But in 2000 nobody thought he could end up being an internet hero. In fact youtube and facebook didn't even exist back then. If I would have seen a guy with a camera in 2000 I would have thought he makes a home video and not "Oh in 5 years youtube will go online and make me an internet star!".

I agree that today everybody should be aware how his likeness could end up to be used, but I also think people should ask for permission before posting such things. Of course a video of a scenery or crowd should, like photographs, not need a permission.
Just because I go out in the world doesn't mean I have to become "Freiwild" for everyone with a camera.
