The translation seems alright to me.
I assume that the letter was taken from the book: "Letzte Briefe aus Stalingrad", Palladium- Verlag, Heidelberg. The page does, however, not mention the source. Also, I do not know the page and have no clue whether it is credible.

Was this letter really written in English? Futility Closet makes no mention of a translation, which I would have expected. Otherwise, I'd like to see the original to see whether or not the translator added some of the moving prose.
