Can I ask a favor of my readers? I would like to watch the speech Christoph Maria Herbst gave at the German Film Prize 2012 a while ago in which he apparently accused German movies of being boring and noted that the fewer people had seen the nominated films than tuned into Wetten Dass... on a bad night.
I can't find this anywhere online. Any help would be appreciated!
Not official in any way, but you could probably find it at dokujunkies.org

I'm sorry you've missed that one. It had been online for some time but has been deleted since. It was pretty funny indeed since he started off by entering the stage with some vessels containing incense (Weihrauch) because of the self-congratulatory (selbstbeweihräuchernd) atmosphere. He went on commenting on the fact that this show was financed not by Maschmeyer but by this other guy that we all despise (pause) yes, the German state! About Wetten Dass...? he stated that it was Wetten Dass...? on a bad evening and even that Thomas Gottschalk's new show was dumped though he had a better rate. There was also mentioned that French movies are doing exceedingly good in German cinemas at the moment and that the other way around the most successful German movie in France was movie about sex education from the 1960s entitled Helga. He also described the movie "Ziemlich beste Freunde" (Intouchables) desplaying a great difficulty in describing politically correct the character he finally settled for as being an "Afro-Franzose". Then he would go on fancying a similar scenerio to that movie but based on German issues like Neo-Nazism, the former GDR or integration. He even suggested playing both counterparts. But "Wer fragt mich schon?!"/"Whoever would ask me?!". I hope this sort of answered your request.
