Nice pictures of the leiwandste Stadt, wo's gibt.

BTW: "Senkgrubenräumung" will be a hot candidate for the next GWOW.

P.S.: The U-Bahn station is "Kettenbrückengasse", not "Kettenbrückenstrasse".

Those are great! You really have an eye for the little things. I think the dog in the ruins is my favorite.

Aww shucks, thanks Lisa!

Much of the credit for the photos has to go to my friend Philip, a who is a professional-level amateur photograper. For a punter like me, he recommended the Canon Powershot G11. I wanted something portable (i.e., no need to schlepp around lenses or a camera bag), not too heavy, easy to use, but capable of delivering good results.

The G11 does all of these things and more. It fits in your pocket (if you have large pockets), the rechargeable battery lasts forever (and is removable and replaceable), and the viewscreen can be pulled out to the side of the camera and rotated 360 degrees, which makes it easy to capture interesting angles and to evaluate them before you shoot. Great for shooting unobtrusively; just put the camera on a bench beside you, check the shot by flipping the viewscreen, and shoot.

For more ambitious users, there are literally hundreds of sophisticated functions to play around with. All displayed on a crisp, easily-readable screen.

So take that as an enthusiastic recommendation!

Lisa

Andrew, it seems unfair for you to be such a talented photographer when you write so well and speak fluent German. The photos are lovely.
