they are good for...it is good for. Dammit. I'm a Pannekopp myself, possibly a Waldheini, too.

Maybe that's because that's what they are good for--apart for being a social marker that conveys, so to speak, the whiff of the sublime to our most honourable peers. unrelated the GWW: Pissnelke. Because it has a ring to it.

The same people who completely refuse such music often have no problems at all with it in the context of watching a movie. They wouldn't even notice the music, let alone criticise it and demand for other music.
In many movies you find influences of contemporary music, from bits of it to complete soundtracks. I searched for György Kurtág on IMDb, his music was used for some short movies, like The Stream (1994), a film about war refugees. I wonder what the response whould have been if Andrew had linked to that movie instead (it's not on YouTube).

Ugh! Reminds me of the response a music critic gave to the question as to what he thought of Wagner's new opera: "I wouldn't want to judge it after hearing it only once, but I'll be damned if I'll sit through this again!"
If this is the shape (or sound) of music to come, I can only say: Arme Welt!
