Marek, I'm afraid I didn't have the pleasure of meeting that gentleman. No surprise as he is a professed Muslim and I stayed in a room above a pub named the Golden Crown. Not quite your ordinary naff Brit pub, the Crown served excellent food and wine in an old monestary brewhouse dating to the 14th century. Not many observant Muslims to be found there.

Shrewsbury? Presumably it still is, at least architecturally. Did you happen to meet this gentleman? The nice old town is his last known residence. He's one of those keen to unite what merits uniting.

I lived (actualy worked) in Ugley for a while, only it's further west and nomnally named Telford. A modern 'planned' town and whoever did the planning ought to be committed to an institution for the culturally deficient. The only thing which saved my sanity was the discovery I could overnight in Shrewsbury, which was a nice old town.
